Joe Higgins at TIECS . Joe Higgins, a Socialist Party TD for Dublin West, visited TIECS on the 10th of March. He attended the weekend school for kids, where he emphasized the importance of knowing and learning a language. An informative and interested conversation took place between TIECS administration and volunteers and TD Higgins over some Turkish coffee and traditional delights. Tiecs regularly visits the Senior Citizen sheltered houses to share the moments with the senior citizens. We arrange a barbecue party and serve some Turkish foods to residents. We also attend to their Christmas party and had lovely hours with them. This project is to continue with the places. With this project we do our contribution to the one of the problematic area of our society.

If you are interested in learning another language, join our classes. TIECS’s Turkish language class is designed to help you gain competence in modern Turkish language and Turkish culture through communicative learning.
We also offer FREE Turkish conversation nights during which our students get a chance to speak only Turkish.

Marbling Workshops Marbling (Ebru) has long been the name given to the authentic Turkic art of paper marbling and to the marbled papers produced by Ebru artist.
Classical Ebru is performed using aqueous natural pigments mixed with ox-gall and a rectangular trough filled with a mucilaginous
 mixture, traditionally prepared using gum tragacanth. Colours are sprinkled using brushes made from rose stalks and horsehair on the surface of the mucilaginous solution in the trough. The floating pattern is taken off the paper either as it is or after being reshaped and retouched using pins, needles, combs or the like.

We are happy to announce that we will be running English courses for all willing to improve their English knowledge. We will be providing
placement test during March so that we can ensure students get to their correct level group. Once we have a sufficient number, the course will start in April. The course will comprise the aquisition of the four language skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening, as well as plenty of vocabulary and necessary grammar. The classes will be interactive will plenty of activities, games and fun. No materials need to be bought for the course, as homework and class material will be e-mailed to the students. The class requires an A4 notepad, a few multi-coloured pens and a good bilingual dictionary. The class day will be decided based on the wish of the students.
